Standards We Follow

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities.

AAWCAG 2.2 Level AAOur target compliance level

Level AA addresses the most common barriers for disabled users and is the standard required by most accessibility regulations worldwide.

The ADAAmericans with Disabilities Act

The ADA applies to us and we build to meet it. There is no published technical standard for a private business website under the ADA, so no one can hand you a certificate and we will not claim one. What courts and the Department of Justice have used as the benchmark is WCAG, which is why we build to the level above, test against it, and publish what we have not solved.

Accessibility Features on This Site

We have implemented numerous accessibility features throughout our website to improve the experience for all users:

Semantic HTML StructureProper heading hierarchy and semantic elements like nav, main, article, and section for a clear document structure.

Alternative TextAll meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked to be ignored by screen readers.

Keyboard NavigationAll interactive elements are reachable by keyboard. Tab through links, buttons, and form fields without a mouse.

Focus IndicatorsVisible focus states on all interactive elements, so keyboard users always know where they are on the page.

Color ContrastText and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).

Resizable TextText can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality using browser zoom controls.

Skip LinksSkip navigation links let keyboard users bypass repetitive content and jump straight to the main content.

ARIA LabelsARIA attributes provide extra context for screen readers where HTML alone is not enough.

Form LabelsAll form inputs have associated labels. Error messages are clear and programmatically tied to their fields.

Descriptive LinksLink text is descriptive and makes sense out of context. We avoid generic “click here” or “read more” links.
