We Turn Down Work

Read This Before
You Book a Call.

We turn down work every month. Not because we are precious about it, but because the published start dates on our production board are only real if we say no often enough to keep them.

Here is exactly who we say no to, and what we would tell you to do instead.

Next available build start date is Sept. 28, 2026

Why a shop this size publishes a list like this

We publish kickoff dates six to twelve weeks out and we hit them. That is only possible because there is a hard cap on how much we start. Here is the same month, run two ways.

A shop that takes everything
  1. Say yes to every project that calls
  2. Never know what next month actually holds
  3. Quote a range wide enough to cover the guess

You get a timeline. Then a new timeline.

A shop with a cap
  1. Cap how many builds we start at once
  2. Know exactly what next month holds
  3. Publish the start date where anyone can read it

Next build starts Sept. 28, 2026. We hit it.

A cap means the work we take has to be work we can finish well. That is what this list is: the shapes of project we already know we would handle badly, written down in public instead of discovered after your deposit clears.

So it is not a screening test you have to pass. It is us being specific about what we are bad at, so you do not spend three weeks finding out on your own.

We would rather turn you down in ten minutes than take your deposit and disappoint you in week six.

Industries we will not build for

This is the short list, and it is a hard no regardless of budget. Most of these are not moral objections. The tag on each row says who is actually refusing: the ad platforms, the payment processors, or us.

  • MLM and network marketing

The customer is the recruit. We build systems that produce buyers, and there is no honest version of this that we can measure.

    Us
  • Crypto, forex signals, trading education

Banned or heavily restricted on Google and Meta. We would be selling you an engine with no fuel line.

    Ad platforms
  • Payday lending, debt relief, credit repair

A restricted ad category, and the lead economics only work by pressuring people who are already in trouble.

    Ad platforms Us
  • Adult

Hosting, payment processing and ad platforms all say no. So do we.

    Ad platforms Processors Us
  • Firearms and ammunition sales

Not a judgment. Paid traffic and most processors will not carry it, so we cannot deliver the thing we sell.

    Ad platforms Processors
  • Vape, kratom, and most CBD

Same problem. A site we cannot advertise or track is a brochure, and we do not build brochures.

    Ad platforms Processors
  • Anything sold as guaranteed income

Courses, systems, passive-income programs. If the pitch is a number you cannot back up, we cannot be the ones amplifying it.

    Us

On the list and think we have you wrong? Say so on the call.

There are legitimate businesses inside restricted categories. A licensed dispensary is not a kratom dropshipper, and a firearms training school is not a retailer. We will look at it. But the ad platform answer is still the ad platform answer.

When the math does not work

These are checkable. You can hold them up against your own numbers right now and know the answer without talking to us.

Your average job is under about $400 with no repeat business

At that value, one new customer has to be worth the tracking, the follow-up and the care. It usually is not. You would be paying us more than the leads return, and we would both know it by month four.

You do not have the capacity to take more work

A lead engine that fills a calendar you cannot service produces angry reviews, not revenue. Hire first. We will still be here.

You want to spend under $3,000 a month on ads

That is the Growth Engine floor. Below it, our management fee is a bigger share of your budget than the results justify. You would get more from putting the same money into Foundation. This one is a redirect, not a rejection.

The build fee is your whole marketing budget

A site with nothing behind it is the most expensive brochure you will ever buy. If $5,000 is everything you have, spend $2,500 on Presence and keep the rest for the work that comes after.

When it is the wrong month

None of these are a no forever. They are a no now, and we will tell you what we would want to see before we say yes.

You paid a competent agency for a rebuild in the last twelve months

We would spend the first month arguing against a decision you already made and paid for. Fix the tracking and the follow-up on what you have, which is usually the actual problem, and call us when the site itself is genuinely the constraint.

You are an artist with nothing released yet

Marquee works for acts with material out and shows on the calendar. Three demos and a plan is too early. Build the catalog, then get the site.

You are mid-rebrand, mid-merger, or about to change your name

We would build it twice and charge you twice. Come back when the name on the door is settled.

You need it live in two weeks and it is not a Presence build

Foundation is 6 weeks and Growth is 12. We will not compress a build to win the job. That is how a shop ends up publishing dates it misses.

When the way you buy will not survive our process

More than two people have to sign off

Our timelines assume a decision-maker who can answer in a day. Add a committee and the 6-week build becomes a 12-week build, our board slips, and the client after you pays for it. This is the single most common reason we say no to work we would otherwise want.

You want three agencies to bid on a written spec

We publish our prices so nobody has to run a bake-off. If the spec is already written, you have already decided what to build, and the part we are good at is the deciding.

You will not share real numbers

Average job value, close rate, current lead volume. Without them we are guessing at which engine you need, and a guess at this price is not good enough. If those numbers are genuinely private, that is fine. We are just not the right shop.

You are shopping on price

There is always someone cheaper, and for a lot of businesses cheaper is the right call. We are not going to talk you out of it.

Work we will not do, at any price

Some of this gets asked for weekly. The answer does not change.

  • Guarantee a ranking by a date. Nobody can. Anyone who does is either lying or about to do something that gets you penalized.
  • Buy, incentivize or write your reviews. It violates Google’s terms, it is illegal under FTC rules, and it is the fastest way to lose a profile you spent years building.
  • Build doorway pages. Two hundred near-identical city pages is a 2014 tactic with a 2026 penalty attached. We build the service-area pages that earn their place and stop there.
  • Report impressions as results. If we cannot tie it to a lead, it does not go in your report.
  • Hold your site hostage. No proprietary platform, no locked builder, no exit fee. You own it from day one and we will not lease you your own website.
  • PR, playlist pitching, radio push or distribution. For artists we build the site. We are not a label and not a publicist, and anyone selling you both in one breath is selling you neither well.
  • Work for equity, exposure, or “the next one will be paid.” Kindly meant, still no.

Who we do want

The inverse of everything above, and it is a shorter list.

  • An owner or a single decision-maker who can answer in a day
  • An average job worth $400 or more, or genuinely recurring revenue
  • Capacity to service more work than you have now
  • Willing to put real numbers on the table
  • Wants a partner who will argue with them, not one who nods
  • Ready to fix the pipeline, not just the homepage

If that is you, the rest of this page was not about you. Which is most home services, healthcare, trades, professional services, automotive and personal care businesses in Oakland County, and most working bands.

How we work together

The terms of working together, stated up front so nobody has to guess where the line is.

  • One channel

Email or the project thread, so nothing gets lost between a text, a DM and a voicemail.

  • Reply times

Same business day for anything during a build. Site down is any hour, any day.

  • Feedback

One consolidated round with a deadline, not a trickle of one-line emails over three weeks.

  • Scope

Small changes are part of your care plan, so ask and we do them. Anything bigger is quoted before the work starts, never after.

  • Payments

Split at kickoff and launch. Growth splits three ways. Care is month to month with 30 days notice.

  • Leaving

Clean exit at the end of the billing cycle. You keep the site, the domain, the ad account and the data.

If we said no, here is what we would tell you

A rejection with nothing attached to it is just rudeness. So:

The budget is not there yet

Claim and fully complete your Google Business Profile today. It is free, it takes an afternoon, and for a local business it out-performs a new website more often than anyone selling websites likes to admit. Then ask every finished customer for a review, by name, the same day. That is most of the way to page one in a small market, and it costs nothing.

You want to build it yourself

Do it. Pick one builder and stay in it, buy a real domain, and put a working phone link at the top of every page. Test your own contact form from a phone on cellular data once a month. A broken form is the single most common thing we find on sites that “do not get leads.”

You need someone cheaper

Ask any shop three questions before you pay: do I own the site and the domain outright, what is the total monthly, and what happens if I leave. If any answer is vague, keep looking. That test has nothing to do with us and it will save you more than we would have cost you.

We are just not it

Tell us what you were trying to buy and we will point you at someone who does it properly, including our competitors. We would rather you get the right thing from someone else than the wrong thing from us.

Still think you are a fit?

Good. Twenty minutes, five questions, and a straight answer about which engine fits, what it costs and when we could start.

And if the answer on that call turns out to be no, you will get it on the call, not in an email three days later.
